Doves

Hailing from Wilmslow in Cheshire and coming up through the Manchester music scene this gloomy indie band consisting of 2 brothers, Jez and Andy Williams, alongside frontman Jimi Goodwin.

Formed in 1985 when the boys were just 15 under the name Sub Sub, which spawned that dancefloor classic 'Ain't no Love, (Ain't no Use)', it wasn't until 15 years later that they would release their debut album, 'Lost Souls, as Doves. They were promptly nominated for the Mecury Music Award, but were cunningly outbearded by fellow mancunian Badlydrawnboy.

They followed up 2 years later with 'Last Broadcast' which featured the massive tracks, 'Pounding' and 'There Goes The Fear'.

The band record opressive indie anthmns that can easily trace a lineage back to the noir of Joy Division and the beats laden bounce of the resultant New Order alongside alt country aspects like Johnny Cash. After a 4 year absence the band returned in 2009 with their 4th studio album, 'Kingdom Of Rust'.
