Welsh-raised, London-based Ellie Goulding is the latest female singer to inject quirkiness into mainstream pop. The blogosphere, The Guardian and the Evening Standard have all tipped her for big things, comparing her to the likes of Bjork, La Roux and Lykke Li.
Goulding has an original vocal delivery which sets her apart from other singer-songwriters aiming to straddle both the acoustic rock and indie pop markets (looking at you, Kate Nash). She's neither cookie-cutter nor over-the-top trendy (like say, the other Elly).
With a debut album set for release on Polydor sometime soon, the 22-year-old has kept busy touring with Little Boots and promoting her catchy debut single, 'Under the Sheets'.
