Essay Like Nephew
The oddly named Essay Like Nephew has existed in its current form since 2004. Formed apparently in Suffolk (although three of the four went to school in Northamptonshire) Essay Like Nephew are now more or less London-based.
Essay Like Nephew's vibe is very much DIY-orientated - they make their own videos, self-release records, produce merchandise and they even built their own website - which is awesome actually.
But what about the music? Well, it's great: a quirky blend of summery pop, light folk, and Belle and Sebastian-esque whimsy. They aced the BBC Introducing Stage at the 2009 Glastonbury and should be primed for big things to come.
