Fleet Foxes

It rains a lot in Seattle, that's probably why the last few bands to come from the city has been pretty miserable in their general outlook. Listen to the lyrics of any Nirvana or Blood Brothers song and you'll see what we mean.

Fleet Foxes, thankfully, seem to exist to buck the trend. A mix of Neil Young, Seals and Croft and The Moody Blues, they play glorious sun drenched chamber pop infused with flawless harmonies and earthly organ sounds that floats along like a breezy summers afternoon.

Fleet Foxes – Mykonos

If Fleet Foxes ever actually go to Mykonos, they may well be distraught that their imagined 'visions of a gentle coast' have long since been replaced by visions of British tourists pissing on statues and being sick in the ocean.

Musically too, they are rooted firmly in the past, though the frequent Beach Boys comparisons are somewhat misleading – 'Mykonos' sounds more like it could be a catalyst for the long-overdue soft rock revival. We can but dream... MH
