Although never being the most commercial of acts, Flipper can lay claim to be one of the founding fathers of post-hardcore thanks to a droning, moronic master-piece known as 'Sex Bomb'.
Whilst contemporaries Black Flag and Big Black were often ironically and bitterly funny, Flipper pioneered a style of punk that championed a gleefully obnoxious but often life affirming message that was a mile away from the nihilism of the early '80s punk scene.
In 2009 the band received some long deserved industry recognition when Domino records bought up their entire back catalogue. Better late than never.
