Like West Side Story's Maria and Tony before them, the two people at the throbbing heart of electric folk whirlpool Goldheart Assembly, John Herbert and Jamie Dale, were both in rival gangs - oh alright then, singers in rival bands' until fate stepped in and showed them what beautiful music they could make together.
Growing to a 5 piece over the intervening years, Goldheart Assembly manage to retain an earthly, home-spun take on the whole folk thing, despite residing in the swirling morass that is inner-London, and you are as likely to see them banging on upside-down sauce-pans as you are to catch them whacking a keyboard.
