Part of the 'class of 2005' of new British indie bands alongside Bloc Party, Maximo Park, The Rakes et al, the roots of Leeds’ Kaiser Chiefs actually stretch back as far as 1997, when the band originally formed as Parva.
Years of mediocrity followed, until the five members regrouped as Kaiser Chiefs in 2003. Within three years they were one of the country’s biggest exports, opened Live8 in Philadelphia and stormed the Brit Awards. Radio-friendly and bland it might be, but that's what the record buying public love.
