The side project of producer James Murphy who runs the acclaimed dance label DFA Records, LCD Soundsytem are an electro punk act with disco influences.
After winning acclaim with their debut single, the underground dance hit 'Losing My Edge' (an eight minute piss-take about what it means to be cool), their second album Sound of Silver was even more successful, winning a Grammy nomination for 'Best Dance Album' and making it into many musical publications' lists as one of the top albums of the decade.
