Liquid Liquid are one of a handful of angularly danceable bands that comprise the New York 'No Wave' scene of the '80s. The group's members were both liberated by the aftermath of punk – something apparent in the unselfconscious vocals and wiry guitar of songs like 'Optimo' – and also inspired by the percussive muscle of funk and disco.
It's a combination that was hugely influential then and is no less so now, as continuing interest in the band and a recent revival of activity proves.
