Madness

Formed in Camden in 1976 Madness was one of the most prominent bands of the late '70s 2-tone ska revival, although as their career progressed their sound moved towards more conventional pop music.

Spending exactly 214 weeks on the 80's pop charts, the band reached almost cult status within the British music psyche with a string of hits that lasted right up until the bands first hiatus in 1988.

Reforming in 1992 for two outdoor concerts in Finsbury Park, the band have been touring intermittently ever since, releasing 'Dangerman Sessions Vol 1' in 2005; their first studio album in a decade.

For such a Marmite band, this is an incredibly straight-laced profile! Vintage Marcus.

Personally I love them. The old tracks were brilliant, and I wish they would keep touring for ever if it will keep Suggs off that absolutely dire TV show he does in the downtime. That show is painful, and I HATE the way he gets Robert Elms on nearly every week to talk about how Sade was his girlfriend and he invented Spandau Ballet. Elms, you smug, un-musical prat, please die! Suggs, stick to the singing! Arrrgh.
