Memory Tapes
New Jersey native, Dayve Hawke is a fan of the moniker. But for such a creative musician- who carves his own niche in the new wave of dream-pop that washed over 2009- he doesn’t like to stray too far from a fancied nomenclature.
Hawke has released ethereal music under the signature Memory Cassette and dance-electro with Weird Tapes. But it is his work under the moniker Memory Tapes- sitting sonically between his two other projects - for which his reputation has been realised.
Debut album, Seek Magic was released in November 2009 and picked up rave reviews across the blogosphere. Hawke’s ability comes in transcribing an atmosphere and filling it with sumptuous sounds.
In December 2009 Hawke announced he was to tour the UK in January 2010. His first ever live shows sold out in a few days.
