Miley Cyrus

In 2008 Miley Cyrus was listed as one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World. If you know anything about the then 16 year-old Miley Cyrus you'll know that is a sad indictment either of Time magazine or of the world. Or possibly both.

Born in 1992, Cyrus shot to fame in 2006 as the star of the Disney Channel's Hannah Montana. In 2007, she embarked upon a musical career with the release of her debut album Meet Miley Cyrus. It debuted at #1 in the US charts as did 2008's follow-up Breakout.

She's like Kelly Clarkson crossed with Avril without the 'tude of the latter or the homespun charm of the former. Utterly objectionable.

Wow. Miley Cyrus really is something quite amazing, like a kind of pop-tastic Terminator. There's a school of thought that believes the only way the world will ever be rid of the evil is to launch her into a vat of molten steel. Once again, the world needs Arnie.

So this song is obviously really, really bad: a horribly nauseating load of old saccharine bibble. And yet, and yet, oh dear god no, please no, I think, I think, aaaaaaaaargh, I kind of actually like it. 2/5
