Monolake is the brainchild of Berlin-based computer whizz Robert Henke. It is, in his words, "an open project dedicated to computer generated music", and has been a vehicle for some of the best ambient techno ever released. Classic albums 'Hongkong' (1997), 'Cinemascope' (2001) and 'Polygon Cities' (2005), plus a string of imperious 12" cuts, pay heed to this.
Watch out for Monolake's epic live performances, which feature Henke's custom-built 'Monodeck', basically a massive software controller deployed to wreak havoc with audience's heads. For anyone onto abstract dance msuic, it's an aural spectacle not to be missed.
