One of the run-away successes of the late nineties grunge revival, radio friendly college rockers Nickelback's rise to commericial success is a real rags to riches story.
Starting out as covers band in Hanna, Alberta, the band name comes from lead singer's Mike Kroeger's job in Starbucks where he would constantly have to say 'here's your nickel back'.
Managing to write a few original songs, the band borrowed money for early releases and tours, and thanks to the Canadian government's content requirements, they went from virtual unknowns to playing in front of a million people alongside the likes of Creed and 3 Doors Down.
