Austin-based indie rockers Okkervil River formed in 1998, soon gaining attention in the town's burgeoning music scene.

Since signing to the marvellous indie label Jagjaguwar, they have released several albums to increased acclaim, and are vastly underrated in this country.

Okkervil River have been steadily clawing at the mainstream from behind a curtain of obscurity for a few years now, enough so that they have gained a strong following. Their americana-influenced sound tends to recall one to early 90s alt-rock such as The Wallflowers. Hopefully we'll see them in London again soon as they put on a great show and have an fun, if somewhat generic, sound that it's difficult not to enjoy.
