Peter Bjorn and John

Swedish three piece band, the imaginatively named Peter Bjorn and John, are all about the music; so much so they rarely appear in their music videos.  Peter Morén (vocals, guitar and harmonica) and Björn Yttling (bass guitar, keyboards and vocals) met as teenagers but it wasn't until they moved to Stockholm in 1999 that they met up and formed a band with John Eriksson (drums, percussion and vocals).

They produce catchy indie pop tracks like 'Young Folks' - their first big hit in 2006.  Its infectious whistle that formed the central hook caused it to reach the top 20 in the UK singles chart and be named the 'second best tune of 2006' by NME.   Since then they've played hundreds of gigs, made two albums and had Kanye West sample them in his mixtape album Can't Tell Me Nothing. Not bad going for a group whose name sounds like an Abba tribute band.

Nothing To Worry About
Wichita Records

This tune has been getting a lot of downloads since Kanye West 'leaked' it on his blog (nice PR move guys!). PB & J certainly like their catchy hooks: first we had the irritatingly infectious whistle in 'Young Folks', now we have an old favourite - children chanting.

But it works. And I can already hear myself humming it god dammit! Also who here is fed up of musicians taking themselves far too seriously in their videos? Who would rather see a middle-aged Japanese man dressed as a T-Bird playing leapfrog? Exactly. 4/5
