Indisputably one of the biggest bands operating today, R.E.M. have been making music since 1980, with a string of classic songs and albums under their belt since.
The quality of their music has certainly fluctuated, as you would expect with over a dozen major albums, but the genius of their songwriting always seems to pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat.
Their 2008 album 'Accelerate' was their first triumph in a decade, but even on the lesser records there are gems to be found. That is more than can be said for most bands of such longevity. True superstars.
