Saint Etienne was formed by music journalists Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs, and is fronted by Sarah Cracknell, the honey-voiced focus for the desires of a generation of deluded indie types.
With their fusion of intelligent lyrics and slightly generic house music motifs, Saint Etienne were at the forefront of the early '90s indie-dance crossover. Listen to tracks such as Born on Christmas Day, Only Love Can Break Your Heart, Hobart Paving, You're in a Bad Way, Pale Movie and He's On the Phone and you can't help but be seduced by the shimmering brilliance of Saint Etienne.
