Awesome homegrown British Pop Princess Sophie nearly knocked Kylie from her perch as the Queen of Pop when she shot to fame as a guest vocalist on the 2000 summer dance smash 'Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)', then followed it up with the unforgettable sultry disco hit 'Take Me Home'.
Despite her glamour, however, Sophie appears to have no interest in the limelight and has not capitalised on these smash hits. She goes away and does her own thing in Paris for months at a time, then comes back with another funk-laden groove.
Critics might say that this apparent humility and disinterest in being crowned the top diva is entirely justified given her modest vocal talents. Certainly her hits owe as much to brilliant production as her crystal clear and distinctly posh vocals, which are virtually talked at some points. However, there is no denying this girl has class.
An army of fans, a string of pretty similar but nonetheless enjoyable disco hits, and a body to die for have confirmed Sophie as a popular favourite and a UK Diva of whom we can be proud. 'Murder on the Dance Floor' is a disco classic worth of any artist.
