Spacemen 3
Spacemen 3 are a British psychedelic rock band from Rugby that released albums between 1982 and 1991. During that time the line-up fluctuated widely, with two founding members splitting off in 1989 to form the band Darkside.
Wavering guitars, sparse drumming, lo-fi bass and softly sung vocals characterise the sound of albums such as 'Sound of Confusion' and 'The Perfect Prescription', which the band openly admitted were inspired by frequent heroin use.
Like other psych-rock bands, they were never huge commercially but instead built up a steady cult following. This perhaps explains why more material was released after the band broke up (demos, singles collections, etc.) than while they were together.
