Tame Impala
Signed to Modular and making sweet music since 2007, TI sound to us like they'd fit snugly into the fuzzy dream- pop scene emerging from California. But they're actually from Perth. Which is in Australia.
They describe themselves as "the movement in Orion's nebula and the slime from a snail journeying across a footpath" but we here at Spoonfed have spent a little less time frying our brains in the sun, so we're going to go with - dreamy, harmony driven (almost in a mamas and the papas kinda way) ambient pop.
Of course, if we were feeling more poetic we could add that they make the kind of tunes that could soundtrack that summer day that seems to go on forever when you've done nothing but lie on your back and stare at the sky, squinting because the sun is so dazzling. But we don't like to show off.
