Telepathe

Telepathe are a Brooklyn-based electronic outfit made up of former lovers Busy Gangnes and Melissa Livaudais, with the ubiquitous Dave Sitek  behind production.  They have an ability to flit between a wide range of genres from club-rap to experimental electronica and haunting pop.

In an interview, Livaudis said: "Busy and I are 'hookers'. That's what Dave Sitek calls us, in that we are totally into making music with sick hooks. We got bored with making drone music and now we are obsessed with making the catchiest fucking music ever."  She's not wrong either, listening to their ghostly vocals and almost trance-inducing rhythms you feel like floating and dancing at the same time.

Some have already dubbed their debut album Dance Mother as 'one of 2009's great records' which might be a tad premature; they still have a way to go on tidying up the more experimental stuff but they're not far off either.

So Fine
IAMSOUND

The latest release from Telepathe's debut album, 'So Fine' is an outstanding track. Ethereal, almost child-like vocals are set against cascading synthesizers and a fluctuating beat. As the drums pound and they chant sinister lyrics like 'death is in this heart' you might be inclined to dance but then comes the hook. The synths expand, the notes start to linger and fade and the effect is hypnotic – more trance than dance.

Eerie, intangible and beautifully dreamy.
