Taking their name from an historical Chinese uprising, the Boxer Rebellion are a four-piece from London, with members hailing from Tennessee and England. Having won a competition to play Glastonbury 2003, they were snapped up by Alan McGee's Poptones label.
However, on the eve of a support tour with the Raveonettes, singer Nathan was taken ill and their career stalled despite the criminally underrated debut album, 'Exits'.
Currently preparing their second LP for release, this is a band who has never achieved the recognition their songs deserve. A bit Muse in places, they make soaring melodies that wouldn't be out of place in a stadium, but you should count yourself lucky they are still plying their trade in intimate venues. Ace.
