With the music scene being awash with scruffbags and ragamuffins it's awful nice to see a band that turn out with such impeccable style. The Computers are an Exeter four-piece who always look Sunday Best smart. You've just got to wonder how much Daz they get through to get their whites so etherally white.
If 'noise' had it's own page on Facebook, The Computers would have certainly become a fan. They have captured it's essence like a writhing Pokemon and lovingly tamed it to be used as a power with hypnotic effect. Not like Jigglypuff though. No, it's by taking big bold slabs of retro garage rock n' roll riffs then throwing in the choicest cuts of 80s hardcore abrasion and post-punk to concoct a suave, swaggering, confident beast of a sound. It's engaging to say the least.
Said sound is what has got them slots sharing stages with chaps like Alexisonfire and The Buzzcocks. As their debut album stated, 'You Can't Hide From The Computers'. We're sure that's not meant in a creepy bogeyman-under-your-bed style way. The educated reading we get is that this is a band that can get under your skin, stuck in your head, and take control of your feet- given a dance floor and a few ales. Admittedly, that too sounds awful but you know what we mean.
For some ants in your pants style infectiousness with a gritty retro edge, give this lot a listen.
