Sunderland trio The Futureheads were one of the last bands to receive the patronage of the late John Peel, with their early singles showing an edgier version of the new-new-wave of Franz Ferdinand and co.
Despite a slew of top quality tunes, it was ironically a cover of Kate Bush's 'Hounds of Love' that provided their breakthrough, leading to festival singalongs and a resurgence in the oddball queen of weird's popularity with younger audiences.
Second album 'New and Tributes' was a tepid affair, but has focused their efforts, and they returned in 2008 with the punkier 'This is Not the World'.
