The Joy Formidable
Hailing from Wales, then Manchester and now based in London, The Joy Formidable create music which has been described as a ‘breath of fresh air’, and has drawn comparisons to My Bloody Valentine, Lush, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the Pixies.
Since 2007 the band have had many appearances on BBC 6 and in NME, much hype in music blogs, and featured prominently on the teen program Skins.
In the year that shoegaze saw a marked resurgence, the Joy Formidable's 2009 mini-album 'A Balloon Called Moaning' provided a saccharine alternative to the more gloomy efforts of their contemporaries.
