The Smashing Pumpkins
The Smashing Pumpkins are an iconic alternative rock band which formed in Illinois in 1988.
Billy Corgan and James Iha were the originators, and the band has included D'arcy Wretzky, Jimmy Chamberlain and Melissa Auf der Maur.
They stormed the musical mainstream in 1993 with their brilliant second album 'Siamese Dream' and their follow-up double album 'Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness' landed immediately at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart.
They were easily one of the most commercially successful bands of the 90s.
