The Sonics formed in 1960, recording a number of proto-punk gems, including the classic 'Have Love, Will Travel', before drifting into obscurity in the late 60s.
Briefly reuniting in 1972, then again in 2007, their two dates at the London Forum in March 2008 are their first European dates since forming 48 years previously...that must be some sort of record.
