Timber Timbre

Timber Timbre, aka Canadian singer-songwriter Taylor Kirk, has gained a large critical following over the few years he's been on the blues scene. His debut label release was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize and beat out The xx and Animal Collective to be named Eye Weekly's album of the year in 2009.

His dark gothic style is generally reminiscent of Nick Cave, but he's just as capable of delivering a more pared-back, mainstream acoustic folk sound. Kirk is occasionally joined by Mika Posen on violin and Simon Trottiel on the steel guitar.
