The solo project of New England songstress Merrill Garbus, Tune-Yards' scatterbrained music sounds very much at home on label 4AD, which also houses St Vincent, TV on the Radio and Tindersticks.
However, despite sharing the world rhythms and experimental vocal play of these contemporaries, Garbus' also displays an endearing DIY aesthetic, ensuring her tunes retain an edge often eschewed in production-heavy modern music.
