Turbo Fruits

You may remember a few years ago being introduced, by NME and other hype merchants, to the supposed saviours of garage rock, Be Your Own Pet, a manic quartet of undistilled youth and raw energy, fronted by blonde bombshell Jemima Pearl. This was a young band with buckets of potential.

However,  Be Your Own Pet followed the trajectory of too many hotly-tipped young bands, suffering the obligatory, unavoidable self-implosion, getting sucked into their own hype and forgetting what it was that got them noticed in the first place. Now, Jonas Stein, the powerhouse behind the femme fatale, has returned with new band Turbo Fruits.

Not only has he retained his knack for rubbish band names, the new line-up with Stein taking over frontman duties, produce equally, if not more so, rambunctious power-pop ditties that whisper sweet nothings in your ear and then proceed to maniacally rip your face off. Add this to legendarily chaotic and unpredictable live performances and perhaps this time this group will last the distance.
