Wave Machines

Wave Machines' understated and hypnotic electro-indie immediately grabs you and feeds you a dose of that weary cynicism indie kids learn to love at age 15. But this is an eclectic, well-tackled cynicism that knows its place. The sound is airy and arctic, with a sense of musical space that Prince would be proud of.

Thankfully this is mature indie without that tedious old rock vibe. It manages to jam together a range of interesting noises and styles, 80s synthy basses, the occasional synth arpeggio drone, clipped beats that bring the rhythm home and even Ultravox style organs. Put together it somehow manages to generate something that actually sounds pretty original, and is definitely worth a listen.
