About Oxford Street

If London shopping is your favourite past time then Oxford Street is the place for you. Running from Marble Arch to Tottenham Court road, it’s one and a half miles of retail heaven with every major store only a few steps from the next one. If you want it, Oxford Street will provide.  Add into the mix a number of London bars and restaurants and you’ll see why Oxford Street is said to be the busiest shopping street in Europe.

Selfridges is the most luxurious department store on offer. It’s worth a visit whatever your budget.  but if you don’t trust yourself to enter just check out the impressive window displays.  For bargain clothes at the other end of the spectrum head to the Primark Superstore opposite. Further down the street and said to be London’s largest fashion store is Top Shop.  Set over 4 floors its clothing range is huge and with nail bars, a blow drying salon and a café in house you could spend a whole afternoon wandering around this cavernous store.

If you grow tired of the crowds, then head to St Christopher’s Place, the perfect secluded area for a pit stop. It has numerous cafés, bars and restaurants to relax and recharge in, and, if you can still face it, more shops.

What's on in Oxford Street

With so many tourists hitting this part of town, the scene in Oxford Street can feel quite commercial with lots of big clubs pumping out the latest chart tunes. If this isn’t your style though, don’t worry as Oxford Street is also home to the 100 Club and Astoria whose playlists are much more eclectic. With Soho and Carnaby Street also close by, Oxford Street proves it does have an edgier side, although those in the know also head to ‘Market Place’, for well priced drinks in a good looking bar.
