Victoria - Things to do in London

Victoria Station
Things to do in Victoria

Known mostly for its bus and train stations, Victoria isn’t probably the first place most people think of when they’re about to hit the west end. However, thanks to its reputation as a transport hub and it’s location at the end of London’s theatre district, there are plenty of hidden gems to be had if you’re willing to put in the leg work.

Places to go in Victoria

Apollo Victoria
Formerly an art-deco cinema, The Apollo Cinema was reopened in 1975 to stage Andrew Llyod Webbers roller-skate heavy production of Starlight Express. Since then the venue has seen several hit musicals come and go, from Buddy to Saturday Night Fever, however it’s current show Wicked that has been the real smash. Since opening at the venue in 2006, the show has pretty much broken every record going.

Victoria Palace Theatre
The other big dog on Victoria’s theatre scene, the Victoria Palace Theatre is a magnificent former music hall that has exsisted in one way or another since 1886. Restored to it’s former glory back in the 1990’s, it’s one of London’s most popular venues, with a foyer that is envy of the West End.

Boisdale
A smart bar and restaurant located in an elegant Regency town house, just north of Buckingham Palace Road, Boisdale of Belgravia offers quality food, wine and jazz as well as an impressive selection of fine cigars and brandy.

The Phoenix
A Geronimo Inns pub that really know their stuff when it comes to food, our Foods editor once watched someone butcher and cook a whole sheep at the Phoenix. Believe us, it was a lot tastier than it sounds. There's a steak club there every Monday.

Buckingham Palace
A mecca for royalists and American tourists, Buckingham Palace is the Queens official resident on the rare occasions she’s actually in London. Not bad central London digs, don’t you think?

Speaker's Corner
The great strength of free speech is that everybody has the right to voice their opinion. The great weakness of free speech is that everybody has the right to voice their opinion. Never is this dichotomy more highlighted than when you visit Speaker's Corner.
