Perfectly timed to coincide with the Painting History: Delaroche and Lady Jane Grey exhibition, another historical masterpiece by 19th Century French painter, Paul Delaroche will adorn the walls of the National Gallery.
The painting, Charles I Insulted was only recovered in the summer of 2009 and found to have extensive shrapnel damage from the blitz. Now, for the first time, war wounds and all, the scene showing the fateful King in the final days before his execution will be on show to the public.
