Transporting Strindberg's 1888 play, Miss Julie, from 19th century Switzerland to post-war Britain, writer Patrick Marber looks again at class and all its contradictions in an English country house in July 1945.

The Labour Party has just won a landslide victory and the passionate, young lady of the house wanders down to the servants quarters where she sets her sights on her father's chauffeur. Love, ambition and the delicate balance of the house are all poised to collapse.

Downton fans will love this.
