Bette Bourne saw drag not as an imitation of a woman but as a challenge to the common definition of a man.
He tells his life in three acts to playwright Mark Ravenhill. His extraordinary story moves from his post-war childhood to the Gay Liberation front. He tells of his time living in a drag commune, and how he created the ground breaking Bloolips theatre company. This is a celebration of the momentous struggles of gay liberation.
