The first retrospective of work by nineteenth century photography pioneer Camille Silvy opens at the National Portrait Gallery.
Marking the centenary of the photographer's death, the exhibition unearths a collection of fascinating images, last displayed in the 1860s.
Over 100 innovative works, including photographs of royality shot under the patronage of Queen Victoria and images of everyday family life, illustrates how Silvy turned his hand to theatre, fashion and street photography.
Until 24.10.10.
