Signal Gallery, 96a Curtain Road, Hoxton and Shoreditch, EC2A 3AA

Exhibitions: , Art, Gallery, Drawing, Video

Caroline Burraway produces harrowing drawn portraits of people who have recently died. These disturbing reminders of our own mortality are forensically detailed but also somehow mystical at the same time.

In terms of effect, there' something similar to the Life Before Death exhibition at the Wellcome Collection earlier this year.

Burraway has a solo show this month at Signal Gallery.

Until 15.11.08.

Fantastic exhibition. the signal gallery is a very small space and so there is little room for error but like a greta poem each ingredient must carefully chosen and so it goes for caroline Burraway's current showcase. the press release might be deliberately warnful about the content as the works are truly beautiful; technical brilliant, nerve tingingly real and presented perfectly in tight perspex box frames, not at all the scary experience we are told to expect.
