James Earl Jones (Star Wars, Patriot Games, etc) has the time of his life playing the immensely wealthy, tyrannical patriarch Big Daddy in this Tony Award-winning Broadway Smash which transfers to the West End for a highly anticipated run.

Tennessee Williams' most-performed play is about sex and lies. It concerns a family gathered for the birthday of their overbearing father, Big Daddy. The man will be dead within the year from cancer, but the family have conspired to keep this from him. Throughout the play they jostle for his affections while lying through their teeth. The play focusses on his alcoholic son Brick who won't play the game, and his sexually frustrated, febrile wife Maggie. (The 'cat' of the title.)

It's a twisting, savagely funny and fundamentally moral masterpiece, often performed because the roles are so juicy. Much of the Broadway cast are coming over to the Novello for a short, riveting run of an American classic.
