An examination of the development of open-air landscape painting over the course of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Opening with works by Jean-Bapiste-Camille Corot and Simon Denis, this exhiition goes right up until the first Impressioonist exhibition in 1874. All the paintings on display are from the National Gallery's own remarkable collection.
