The tough as old boots Filumena is a former-prostitute living with the powerful Domenico Soriano. When she convinces him to marry her on her deathbed, Filumena is at her strongest.
But this iron-willed woman faces a man who would rather marry a young girl and refuses to care for her children as his own.
When she tells him one of them is his he goes mad trying to find out which one. But Filumena insists in one of he many beautiful monologues: "Children are children, they are all equal"
This new English version of Eduardo de Filippo's classic Italian play is directed by Michael Attenborough and stars the superb Samantha Spiro.
