Through the songs of Lalon Shah Phokir, live music, video dance and spoken word, Man of the Heart explores the life and work of the 19th century Bengali saint and song maker.
Lalon Shah Phokir, know as 'King of Bauls' was an influence that stretched across political and religious borders of Bangladesh and Indian West Bengal. The Bauls are a non-institutional sect who profess a body-based philosophy and a practice that mixes Islamic Sufi doctrine with a loose reading of Tantric Vaishnavism.
