When David Edgar's play Pentecost was first performed in 1994, it questioned the very value of art and the place of language and its revivals across the world have drawn a set of mixed reviews from critics which means it definitely does something right.
It is an example of the urgency of the form of theatre and its breadth and timelessness of themes provides a meaty theatrical meal.
Set in Eastern Europe during a time of political and social unease, Pentecost looks at ideas about language, cultural identity, displacement and the value of art.
