Piaf
When: Tuesday, 19 August from 19:30 - 22:00
A welcome return to London for Pam Gems' 1978 musical biography of Edith Piaf, which is both a songbook musical and an even-handed depiction of her tempestuous life.
'Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien', she famously sung but in fact her life was strewn with unfortunate incidents and lost loves. Her life is an adventure story, complete with a brothel upbringing, dire poverty, international fame, doomed affairs that made the headlines and a serious morphine and alcohol addiction. Throughout it all she never lost her voice.
This lengthy songbook biography has been updated for the 21st century and will give West End theatre-goers a dose of stirring romance, tragedy and captivating music.
