Donmar Warehouse, 41 Earlham Street, Covent Garden, WC2H 9LX

Theatre: , Melodrama

How Much: £29.00 (Highest Price) , £13.00 (Lowest Price)

John Logan's new play about the life and inner turmoil of artist Mark Rothko is a true story that's billed as a tragedy.

Hard to understand, perhaps, given that Rothko (until Hirst) was the most successful artist in his own lifetime ever. But being very rich indeed isn't everything. Apparently.

The Donmar is on a fantastic roll at the moment and Red is an enticing, cerebral piece of theatre. This claustrophobic, simple stage is the perfect place to lay bare the inner torments of a truly important artist.

If you are upset that you never got to sit in the studio of Mark Rothko, then this is the show for you. Last Wednesday, I left the Donmar paint splattered, pondering about life and completely in love with Eddy Redmayne. I also googled “How to become an artist” the next day, so it’s definitely not one to miss.
