Leading lights in the new wave of British heavy metal movement of the early 80s, Barnsley-formed Saxon tasted success in their early years, notching up four top 20 singles and albums while tours with the likes of Motorhead gave them recognition in Europe and Japan.

Despite falling out of mainstream favour towards the late 80s, and a succession of personnel changes, Saxon have continued to tour and record over the years, with vocalist Biff Byford and guitarist Paul Quinn the sole remaining members of the original 1976 line-up.
