Shappi Korsandi
Artists: Shappi Khorsandi
When: Friday, 8 August from 20:00 - 21:00
Genres: Stand Up
The daughter of an exiled writer and comic from Iran, Shappi's upbringing has been in no way conventional. From mental illness to opium dens, she recounts mostly personal experiences and anecdotes.
These sometimes cover the problems of being a second generation immigrant, of culture and generation clash, but she emphasises that raising political issues is not her prerogative, she just wants to make people laugh. Her manner is chatty and friendly, making you instantly warm to her.
A rising star with a big future ahead of her and a fascinating past.
