Despite growing up in New Jersey, Sharon Van Etten’s past is strongly rooted in Tennessee - spending five years trapped in a destructive relationship that has since formed the basis for many of her songs.

Her slow, sad songs perfectly suit her heartbreaking vocals, often found double-tracked, creating beautiful melancholic harmonies.
