Whilst many bands claim to be influential, the Stone Roses are one of the few who actually are. Emerging in the late 80s, their fusion of indie rock, psych pop and druggy rave culture revolutionised music in Britain launched Manchester's rave scene to the masses, rescued the fortunes of British guitar pop and provided several danceable indie tracks that haven't been bettered to this day.
Despite their reputation as early innovators though, The Roses quickly fell behind the leading pack, disbanding a few years later in 1995 in an explosion of failed second albums, poorly received live shows and bad blood. Despite front-man Ian Brown and bassist Manny going on to have pretty successful solo careers over the course of the late 90s and 00s, the rumours of a reformation never seemed to be that far away - making them the last big 'will they or won't they' question after the whole Ross/Rachel saga in Friends.
Finally getting back together in late 2011, they played a string of dates around the world last year, including two epic shows at Heaton Park. However, in their travels, they never gave London a look-in, a fact that is going to change dramatically this July. Expect this one to sell out in record time!
